University Politehnica of Bucharest is the oldest and the most prestigious engineering school in Romania. Its traditions are linked to the founding by Gheorghe Lazar of the first higher technical school in Romanian language at Saint Sava Abbey. In 1932 this school was reorganized as Technical College, including four cycles, in accordance with the provisions of the Organic Ordinance.
